These 13 women began cultivating coffee as per the traditions of the community. When they started planting trees, prices were good and the land wasn’t as depleted as it is now. Since then coffee has been the principal means of supporting the families of the Teotepec region.
The producers of Teotepec produce coffee in sustainable ‘coffee gardens’ - cherries are handpicked, with special attention placed on collecting only the best fruits, ensuring consistency and quality in the cup. The varieties are grown by this group are Typica, Bourbon and Marsellesa. All 13 are certified Fairtrade, Organic and C.A.F.É Practices.
These producers have been able to adapt to climate change by implementing new cultivation strategies. However today the biggest challenge they face is the market price of coffee. In the past, even when they produce good quality coffees, they didn’t receive prices to justify the physical, economic and environmental investments they have previously made. This year Condesa and our export partner AMSA have made a profit-sharing commitment with this producer group, with 50% of all profits being given back to the producers, on top of the premiums for quality already paid for the coffee originally.

Our specialty (single) coffees are roasted from the highest-quality green coffee beans to their greatest flavor potential. All our specialty coffees are free of defects and have a distinctive character in the cup, with a score of 80 or above when graded according to SCAA Standards.
Once the beans are processed and delivered, our master roaster at 36P spends a considerable amount of time to understand the coffee and develop unique roast profiles.
After trying different profiles and cupping we decide on one profile that brings out the best out of that particular bean.
We roast all our specialty coffees in small batches to maintain freshness and monitor quality.
We develop our espresso roast coffee further in the roaster to increase the caramelisation and body, which suits being prepared on an espresso machine to extract delicious elixir.
Our filter roasted coffee has been less developed in order to retain more of the sparkling acidity that a filtered cup of brew desires.
We care deeply about the planet and creating a business that gives back to nature. That’s why we’re thrilled to share that we’re partnering with One Tree Planted/@onetreeplanted to plant a tree for every pack of 36P coffee sold online.
Trees clean our air and water, create habitats for biodiversity, contribute to our health and wellbeing, and create jobs for social impact. We’re honored to have reforestation through One Tree Planted as an integral part of our business model.
Australia is currently experiencing one of the largest natural disasters in history. This year's fire season has brought about unprecedented destruction as wildfires have spread across every Australian state, burning up nearly 6 million hectares (15 million acres) of bush as of January 2020. But the devastation witnessed in the state of New South Wales is nearly unfathomable - 3.6 million hectares (8.8 million acres) have been lost, over 1,500 homes destroyed or damaged, and 24 people have been killed. New South Wales is home to some of the most iconic of Australia's wildlife - koalas, wombats, and kangaroos to name a few - and their habitat is rapidly declining.
Trees have been chosen that will bring the greatest overall benefit to the region. This includes various types of native trees and companion plants, depending on the specific needs of each section of habitat being restored across Australia.
